At Endeavour, our purpose is to power our communities for a brighter future. Our people are at the heart of delivering this, so enabling them to thrive in life and at work is core to our success. By empowering our people to balance their work and family life, follow their interests and be there for life’s important moments we will support them to be at their best whilst growing their career.
We’re passionate about creating an inclusive, flexible and supportive culture that recognises and celebrate the moments that matter for our people at work and at home.
As a safety focused organisation, looking after the health and wellbeing of our people is vitally important. We provide best practice wellbeing programs and support and flexibility to help our people balance work and family commitments and look after their wellbeing so they can thrive and be at their best.
Wellbeing programs and support
We support the health and wellbeing of our people and their families with different programs at different stages of their career. The YOUnique Health Program offer tailored support from onboarding, throughout career, and during retirement or career transition. Our team of Health and Wellbeing Business Partners guide and support our people to achieve their personal and work health and wellbeing needs.
The YOUnique Health Program includes the following programs and support:
Flexible working:
We are committed to flexible ways of working across our organisation to support our people to balance their work and family life. We encourage our people and leaders to shape the best way of working flexibly for them, their team and their families with a range of flexible work and leave options available.
Recognising Moments that Matter:
Outside of our work, in our everyday lives, we experience key milestones – moments that matter to us as individuals. We launched the ‘Moments that Matter’ initiative in 2021 to share, recognise and celebrate those moments together. It reminds us of the rich diversity of interests and experiences of those we work with – enabling us to stay connected to the things in life that matter most. We’re creating a supportive and inclusive culture, where our people can their whole self to work and be present in the moments that matter, both at work and at home.
Endeavour’s focus on supporting wellbeing and flexible working was positively reflected in our most recent Engagement pulse survey held in November 2021. On flexible working, 83% of employees agreed they have the flexibility they need to manage their work and personal obligations. On wellbeing, 85% of employees agreed that they felt comfortable, well supported and safe to undertake their work. This support is also reflected in comments in our engagement survey. Of the 798 verbatim comments 310 (38%) related to the positive benefits of flexible working.
During 2021, we held Connect +Thrive’ Inclusion and Wellbeing webinars to support employees with mental health and wellbeing, resilience and flexible working. Over 200 employees attended each interactive session with strong positive feedback and engagement.
Following the 2021 Sydney Covid lockdown, we provided a ‘Switch off’ paid wellbeing day for our people to rest and recharge with the majority of our employees accessing this support.
Our EAP services are well received and utilised by our people and their families. By ensuring our people are aware of the support available for their families has resulted in an industry leading family utilisation rate of our EAP services.
We know that a family inclusive workplace, where our people can thrive, supports improved wellbeing, performance and engagement. It fosters an inclusive culture that allows our people to perform at their best. This enables us to empower our communities and deliver the innovative and creative solutions required to transform our business in an evolving energy industry.
Being a family inclusive organisation supports attracting diverse talent, offering new career paths for employees and increased participation by women in the leadership roles. It allows us to strengthen our reputation as an inclusive employer, where we value and support our people to grow and thrive throughout their career and life.
Darryl: Endeavour offers amazing health and wellbeing support. In my role, I have worked closely with Endeavour’s Health and Wellbeing Services team over the years to manage the physical and mental wellbeing of our newest staff. I never thought for a minute I would become their star patient myself. I had a serious mountain bike accident that resulted in a serious injury and loss of mobility. To say that Endeavour looked after me is a massive understatement. My manager was at my bedside when I came out of ICU and he became the lifeline to my family for updates to and from Endeavour. My doctors told me I would be off work for 12 months. This was fully supported by Endeavour. When I started rehabilitation, Endeavour assigned me a Health Coach to oversee my rehabilitation and return to work plan. Due to the overwhelming support I received from my managers and Health Services team, it just made me try even harder and unbelievably I was on a suitable duties plan with a graduated return to work in under 6 months.
